Terms and Conditions (Australia)
Last updated: 17 September 2026
These Terms apply when you use alt in Australia.
1. About these terms
(a) These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the alt application and website operated by Appcentuate in Australia (collectively, “alt”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By creating an account or using alt, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy for Australia.
(b) alt is a peer-to-peer marketplace that connects people who need jobs done (“Posters”) with people who offer to do those jobs (“Taskers”). We provide the platform, messaging, and payment facilitation. We are not the employer of Taskers and do not perform the jobs ourselves unless we expressly say so.
(c) These Terms are written for users in Australia. Australian Consumer Law and other mandatory Australian protections still apply where relevant.
2. Eligibility and accounts
(a) You must be at least 18 years old to use alt.
(b) You must provide accurate registration details and keep them up to date, including your name, contact details, and (where you receive payouts) identity, tax, and bank details required for Stripe Connect onboarding in your country.
(c) You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
3. Market, currency, and location
(a) Tasks in Australia are posted and paid in Australian dollars (AUD).
(b) Browse, hire, and payout flows for this market use AUD. You should post and offer where the work will be performed and where your payment methods and payout bank account are supported.
(c) Travel mode may let you view another market’s currency while travelling. Switching market may change available payment methods, tax labels, address formats, and the applicable Terms and Privacy Policy.
4. Posting, offering, and hiring
(a) Posters must describe jobs accurately, set a realistic budget, and only hire for lawful work.
(b) Taskers must only offer work they can lawfully and safely perform, and must disclose material limitations upfront.
(c) When a Poster accepts an offer, a contract is formed between the Poster and the Tasker for that job. alt is not a party to that contract except for platform, payment, and fee terms described here.
(d) Do not share personal contact details for the purpose of bypassing alt’s messaging or payment systems before a hire is completed through the platform.
5. Payments, fees, and payouts
(a) Payments are processed by Stripe. By using paid features you also agree to applicable Stripe terms for customers and, if you receive payouts, Stripe Connected Account Agreement terms for your country.
(b) When a Poster hires a Tasker, payment for the agreed amount (plus any disclosed connection fee) is authorised or charged and held until the Poster releases payment after the job, or as otherwise described in-app.
(c) Platform fees and Tasker commission are disclosed before you confirm a hire or submit an offer. Amounts may include GST where applicable.
(d) Taskers must complete identity and bank onboarding required for Australia (including ABN where applicable) before receiving payouts.
(e) You are responsible for Australian tax obligations that apply to you, including income tax and GST where required.
6. Cancellations, disputes, and refunds
(a) If work is not completed satisfactorily, Posters and Taskers should first try to resolve the issue in-app. You may also contact support.
(b) Refunds, chargebacks, and payment reversals are handled according to Stripe rules, card network rules, and our support review of the job record.
(c) Nothing in these Terms limits non-excludable consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law.
7. Acceptable use and safety
(a) You must not use alt for illegal, harmful, discriminatory, fraudulent, or deceptive activity; to request or offer sexual services involving minors; to harass others; or to upload malware or scrape the platform without permission.
(b) Meet safely, verify job details, and follow local laws (including licensing, insurance, and workplace health and safety requirements) that apply to the work.
(c) We may suspend or terminate accounts, remove content, or withhold payouts where we reasonably believe these Terms or the law have been breached, or to manage fraud and risk.
8. Intellectual property and content
(a) alt, including its branding, software, and design, is owned by Appcentuate or its licensors.
(b) You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, display, and use content you submit as needed to operate and promote the marketplace.
9. Disclaimers and liability
(a) Except where liability cannot be limited by law, alt is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that every Poster or Tasker will perform as expected.
(b) To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of alt or from jobs arranged through alt.
(c) Where we are liable and liability can be limited, our aggregate liability for a claim is limited to the greater of (i) the fees you paid us in the 3 months before the claim, or (ii) 100 AUD.
10. Governing law
(a) These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
(b) Courts in Queensland have non-exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any non-excludable Australian consumer dispute procedures.
11. Changes and contact
(a) We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance, except where local law requires additional consent.
(b) Questions about these Terms: contact support at tryalt.app/support/request.
